ON THE EVE OF CHRISTMAS EVE

It has been too hectic!!  No time to enjoy the season.  I have been having trouble with my right eye with lots of 'floaters' and real pain!  So today the surgeon saw me.  He said all was well with my retinas!  and to do double steriods!  drops...

I had a late order for 4 berets, but they are so cute. And a baby sweater set. Fortunaely I had the sweater-- only needed the hat and booties if I can get them done tonight. I finished the hat while waiting for the doctor! And the last beret is almost done.

My husband still has a bad ear infection, he is on 2nd round of antibiotics. And he got a shot too.

I have a tree leaning on my house waiting to come in and get decorated!  But I get off at 2 tomorrow so I hope I can pull it off.

I hope Everyone has a Blessed and Happy Christmas!

I have new vision!  I had the second cataract surgery done Tuesday, and It is so amazing!  I could see better on the way home and the next day it was already great.  It feels as good as Lasik.  All I need are some cheaters for close work and computer.

I have been knitting and finishing off stuff. I started the cutest Bear Hood for my 3 yr old grandaughter.  And am making anoter beret. Can't wait till I can wear eye makeup again.  But this is so good.

SEEING CHRISTMAS THRU NEW EYES

Sorry it has been soo long. But I have one eye down and one to go next Tuesday!  the cataract surgery was a breeze,  It is just trying to coordinate the new with the old. Tomorow I start drops in the right eye.

I hope everyone had a good holiday.  I cooked but we went to dad's to eat.

I did get some work done on my knitting and crocheting, but I really slept alot. Tthis week is busy, realizing I have gifts left to make. Tomorrow is our annual Service award luncheon.  we close the place down at 11:30 am and leave for the restaurant.  Nice Party!  Then Saturday is the Big Birthday!
Yep folks, the big 65 !!  My hubby took the day off for me, I don't know what we will do but it doesn't matter.  We so seldom get a whole day together.

I have a great beret, that is already sold, I 'll get a pic. and several pair of boot cuffs, a gorgeous headband, out of the new Isaac Mizrahi yarn, and more to finish.

Too close to Christmas!!

I can't believe we are this close to the Holidays!!  I haven't got half of what I wanted, finished. How are you all doing.  I just started some boot cuffs, and a headband. Problem is I always want to tweak the pattern my way and try something different.   I am still working on a papoose with matching hat for my friend. It is so cute. I did a chevron Christmas pillow. Gotta take some pictures.

HAPPY MONDAY

BUGGERS,  I forgot to take a picture of the cable cap I did with one strand of lambswool and one of With Love , maybe i can catch her later.

So the news is I am having Cataract surgery the week of Thanksgiving.  I could do it with Laser that would be my best bet.  But I can't afford it right now.  So in order to be able to see the computer!  and all the faces I am looking forward to seeing, I better get it done. The right eye will be in  December.

I have seen  so many cute patterns for Christmas gifts, and decor, I wish I was part time Check out "MAKE IT MERRY"  Red Hearts new booklet downloadable with all sorts of these patterns, including hats, Candy cane pillows  ,... more than I can list.

First Crafters group

Wednesday Afternoon we gathered in our lunch room, some with lunch and some with their newest yarn project.  I delighted in not having a project, since just finishing my Hoodie!  But I brought some yarn and crochet hooks to share.  It was very nice, we are all from different departments, and so we exchanged info, discussed the closing of all of our close Yarn shoppes.  We even proposed a road trip to Hobby Lobby, In New Port Richey.    But is is important to use a project thats very simple, cause counting goes out the window,  when you are conversing!!.

FIRST MEETING OF OUR CRAFTERS GROUP

Hopefully all will remember to attend our lunch meeting today, and we will see what takes shape!

I have received my first skein of Mink yarn from Thoughtful Rose, it is a dark blue light lace weight yarn.  40% mink.  I wonder how they shave those little buggers???

I have finished the hood from Winter '13 copy of Creative knitting still have to block it.  before I picture it.  And time to start a pink papoose for a friend. Its a cute sacque with a matching hat.

The weather here has cooled down a bit and we enjoyed a few hours at the beach on Sunday.  The breeze was actually cool! It feels a little better making hats and warm cozy things when you don't have to sit in air conditioning.

Foot Days!

So I did not let this down time go to waste.  I made or finished 4 hats and made good progress on a lace hoodie I am doing.  Also started a beautiful scarf made out of the lace stitch from the Victory Jumper pattern I did for Hannah.  With large needles it works up beautifully in fall gem tones, then I also started an earflap crocheted hat with Unforgettable yarn,  It is truly unforgettably grand to work with.  One hat I made from Debbie Bliss Rialto Chunky, It is so soft and springy, I definitely want more of this. And  Lion Brand has a whole new way of pattern writing, I for one think it is much improved over their old pattern and this crazy red and black in garter stitch for beginners
.

I LOVE YARN DAY !!!

WEEKLY RECAP

It has been a crazy weeK!  Between finishing off these projects, and preparing for my first speech at Toastmasters, I was feeling quite stressed.  I also had an eye appointment and now she is sending me to a Cataract specialist.  I refuse to get any older!  Now I have some new things to work on and one is a half hoodieafrom Creative Knitting magazine.   I was so busy I forgot to even open my new copies of Winter 2014 Knitting and Crochet.  I love that they are digital, I can take them with me on my tablet, and I have all the patterns with me.  I fought against getting a tablet, my husband wanted it for me to read books, but I was surprised when I found the cooperative library on line, and began reading my books for free, but when I started downloading my patterns, that's when I became estatic
I have a large memory card and it is wonderful having access to all my work even when I can't connect to the web at work.

Not seen here is Tavian, 11,he won the long jump.

Ellowyn got a medal for the cutest  3yr old.
Caiden for the best 4yr old host.
Emery is holding half of the Pinata, but he took first in a lot of events!
Ella is enjoying the head of the Pinata, she placed a cool second to Emery, her  older cousin.
Practice for next year is a must.  But She aced the Wheelbarrow.
 Elowyn taking the first swing!!
Emery broke it even with the bag on his head!

Hats, Hats...

Hats, and more hats, The new baby decided to come on board a month early, but I do have a super cute hat ready for him.  I 'll put up pics later. Booties are next for him. He is up in the Cold weather of Wisconsin.  I know it well, I like Wisconsin I spent many summer in the  Dells and camping at Devil's lake, as a Girl  Scout and then with my children later. Its a gorgeous place cut out of the rock by an old glacier.

UPDATE......

I can't believe I haven't written anything!  but I have been busy finishing leg warmers, and I made a great little girl hat.  I still have to have some Heads to put them on!  I guess I will do my paper machee wonders with balloons.    We are in for a rainy weekend so I should be able to work up some hats, in extra bulky yarn.  They are extra cute too.

I have been thinking about my Halloween plans this year.  Last year I made an afghan.  I d like to do it again a little differently. But my orders here have kept me busy. I still have several hats for Xmas. a new baby next month, and my own family items.  Ramona and I are going to try some Owl hats.  they're a real hoot!

Well I 'll be heading home in the rain, seems it always waits till 5 when the traffic is bad.

these are the first cards I ordered, the phone and website are wrong. But I have corrected them

Miss Purl is busy clicking her double pointed needles to make some cute little leg warmers for one not arrived yet.  My, these arthritic fingers are having a problem with the size 3 needles!  I guess it is all worth the effort.  It is hard to keep up when you have a day job! Wish I could retire now, but I guess it will also be worth the wait, to be able to tie up all the loose ends, and get into a smaller house, with a lot less up keep.

Toastmasters is a new venture for me and I am planning my first speech.  Of course it is about me
.
I also discovered a new yarn store called Stash - a place for yarn.  On Central Ave in St . Pete.  The universe is sending me new info!  I can't wait to go and check it out soon, Its always nice to be able to get the 'hand ' of the fiber to see how it may feel against your skin, and the true accuracy of the colors.  These are things you can't get on line.
I will give you a report when I am able to get there.

Actually Paraphernalia was the name of a Great Shop on Michigan Ave in Chicago, during the late sixties.  I bought a great lavender bell sleeve crepe dress there.  It had everything a Hip Chick would want.  So I thought I would like to keep up with the fashionable new knitwear for babies, toddlers and even the rest of us. I like using patterns that aren't run of the mill, and I have found an abundance of them on Etsy. So I will give you their info and keep this community working for us.

Wade and Hannah at the Villa,  ahh memories...
Hannahs Sweater from 2013

Wow it has been soooo long!  I worked so hard on finishing projects last winter that I gave myself a very bad attack of arthritis .  I found a great acupuncturist and she helped
heal me.
Including a new vintage pattern for Hannah, that I worked up. I am learning a lot.
I sold some things including a Halloween afghan I used here at work. Now I am working on a new project for a Baby Girl due in Nov. It has been so hot this spring and summer, that it has been hard to sit and Knit.  I made a beautiful short jacket out of teal vintage suede yarn, and since I went thru everything in my stash, I found more of it!

Hannahs sweater 2014
The Victory Jumper cica, 1945, it's an easy lace pattern that also looks beautiful in different colors and yarn weights

I am visiting Pueblo next week to babysit my grandkids!  Wade and Hannah are going to Philly.
Mel and her kids will join us and we will Play Family Feud---Broadheads vs Cutlans!
